What Are Dental Implants?
Dental Implants are a long lasting, natural looking replacement for missing gaps in the mouth.
An implant is formed of 3 components: a titanium screw which is implanted into the jaw bone, an abutment which protrudes through the gum and a dental crown which is then placed on top of the abutment. The titanium screw acts like the false tooth’s new root. All elements are fixed into the mouth to enable you to chew properly again and restore and maintain your facial shape.

What you need to know about Dental Implants
How soon after I lose a tooth should I get a Dental Implant?
To prevent any bone loss, it is recommended that you start the implant procedure as soon as you lose your natural tooth.
If a natural tooth has to be extracted we can incorporate this into your individual treatment plan.
How long does a Dental Implant last?
Dental implants have shown high levels of success over many years and are the modern alternatives to dentures (false teeth which need to be removed) and bridges (which often require shaving down other neighbouring teeth).
The Dental Implant Procedure
Dental implants are usually fitted during two separate procedures.
During the first appointment, the implant is inserted into the jawbone. Then, 4-8 months later, the false tooth is attached on top of the implant to complete your new tooth.
A temporary tooth will be put in place between appointments to ensure you can smile and eat properly during the healing process.

How do I know if I am suitable for a dental implants?
There are many factors which influence whether you can have dental implants placed. We will need to assess the general health of your mouth and how well you are cleaning and maintaining your teeth.
