What Is The Process Of Tooth Whitening?
During your smile consultation at Dental House in Pinner, one of our dentists will take a 3D oral scan of your teeth and make you your bespoke whitening trays. Unlike high street kits, the trays will be custom fit to your mouth and teeth to ensure the whitening gel is properly applied to the teeth and doesn’t cause any discomfort to the surrounding gums.
Worried about carrying out the process at home?
Don’t fret, we will show you how to apply the gel into your custom fit trays and how to insert and remove them safely with an in surgery demonstration.
The process is simple and usually takes 2-3 weeks to get your desired colour change.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does whitening last?
Tooth whitening is not permanent. You may need to invest in some extra whitening gel for top ups throughout the year, however you can continue to use your trays as long as they fit snugly. The frequency of whitening top ups are dependent on your lifestyle (how much tea/coffee you are drinking, smoking etc) and can range to 1 day a month to 1 day every 6 months.
Will I get a ‘fake Hollywood smile’ after treatment?
Most ‘Hollywood smiles’ are veneers or crowns which are made in a lab and stuck onto the front surface of the teeth. These can therefore be made to very bright white shades which natural teeth will never be able to reach with whitening treatments.
The good news is, our whitening treatments are a slow process, so you are in control of gauging when your teeth have reached the shade you are happy with.
Does Tooth Whitening hurt?
Occasionally you may experience increased sensitivity of your teeth but this is temporary and described more as discomfort than pain. We can also provide you with desensitizing gel if required.

Enlighten Tooth Whitening- £450
Includes: Customised whitening trays, 2-3 weeks supply of night whitening gels and a 40 minute in house whitening appointment at the end of treatment.
How long does Tooth Whitening take?
Whitening usually takes 2-3 weeks to reach your desired colour change. Some patients may take longer depending on the original colour of the teeth.
